If you are a foodie you’re probably mapping out your food adventure like I do; you don’t want to waste one penny or one meal on bad food so you’re searching for it the best places to eat and what to eat when you’re there.
Well here it is, I’ve compiled a list of some of the must eat in Panama City Beach, whether you’re just vacationing or you’d like to take a food tour around your own city.
I understand that everyone’s tastes are different and there are allergies to consider, but, if you like to be adventurous and try new things or the best of whatever it is without any restrictions, here’s our list.
The grinders at Wheelhouse Sandwich & Deli
This small, hole in the wall sandwich shop located at 3136 Highway 77 in Panama City Beach Florida has some of the best grinders and sandwiches around. The best sandwiches here are the Hawaiian Cuban, the Ruben and the Alabama. Grab a few of these and head to the beach for an amazing sandwich experience from Wheelhouse.
Just about anything at Firefly.
Firefly is a unique restaurant that not only serves sushi but filet mignon, duck and some of the best crème brûlée in the city. This is a high-end restaurant that’s only open for dinner and it’s perfect for a group of people that may not all like the same tastes. One person can get an amazing sushi roll or the fantastic tuna and crab tower while another could enjoy sliced duck over mashed potatoes and is still another can enjoy the phenomenal shrimp and grits with red eye gravy. They really have an eclectic menu and you won’t want to miss the crème brûlée for dessert.
The snowballs at David’s New Orleans.
In addition to sandwiches, breaded shrimp and other Café delights, David’s is well known around the area for their Beignets and their “New Orleans style snowballs” This hole in the wall has some of the best New Orleans style donuts called Beignets. These puffy donuts are coated in delicious confectioner sugar, which pair perfectly with a cup of coffee or one of their Café special French roast cups. Davids is located at 13913 Panama City Beach Parkway.
The eggs Benedict and Carrot Cake pancakes at First Watch.
Located at 11160 Panama City Beach Pkwy., Suite 409, First Watch is an American traditional café featuring breakfast and brunch items. Not only do they have some seasonal favorites such as avocado toast and autumn squash soup but they make some amazing protein-packed breakfast is such as the power breakfast quinoa bowl topped with poached eggs, mushrooms and sun-dried tomatoes, their own house made smoked brisket hash and wild Alaska smokes sockeye salmon Benedict smothered in delicious and buttery hollandaise sauce. This is a funky little diner but it serves some amazing food including the carrot cake pancake, studded with strips of fresh carrots and plump, juicy raisins topped with cream cheese and butter. If you’re looking for breakfast, look no further than First Watch.
Fried seafood at Dee’s Hang Out
Sure, you can get your French fries and your fried mushroom with garlic aoli but what people come here for is the fried shrimp Po boy sandwich. There is so much fried shrimp in this sandwich it’s literally bursting out the top, falling all over into your plate only to be gobbled up later once the bread, sauce and lettuce is devoured. In addition, they have the seafood platter with flounder, oysters, shrimp and crab cakes. You can get fresh oysters, shrimp and grits, Cajun grilled redfish with butter caper sauce and some of the best hushpuppies in Florida. If you’re looking for fried seafood, check out Dee’s Hang Out.
Siren’s Song at Sisters of the Sea Grille & Grog
If you’re in the mood for fresh seafood you have to check out Sisters of the Sea Grille & Grog located in 9952 Hutchison Blvd., Suite 200. This hole in the wall diner has some of freshest seafood around and there’s no better way to enjoy that with the Sirens Song fresh seafood and shellfish bowl. This award-winning signature dish feature shrimp, scallops and muscles in a roasted garlic sauce with a splash of cream and spice. It served with French bread on the side that you may want to add a side of the brothers famous fish bread which is smoky and creamy, a perfect addition to this dish.
Mexican street tacos and burritos at Diego’s Burrito Factory
This cheap and delicious dive is perfect for some fresh and savory shrimp tacos, al Pastor street tacos or loaded burritos with black beans, cheese and some of their own guacamole and sauce. Diego’s Is Located at 15514 Front Beach Rd.
Fish and chips at Eat My Pasty.
If you’re looking for amazing British food you’ll have to check out Eat My Pasty. Located at 280 South Arnold Rd. in Panama City Beach, this place has some of the best fish and chips, and real chips, like they would serve in Britain, right here close to the beach.
